Wooden planks covering the walkway on the west side of the Quad earned it this nickname in the University’s early years.

What was the nickname?

Answer: The Boardwalk

With the widening and paving of the path years later, its name evolved into the Broadwalk, which has been crowded with students from every era since the University’s inception.
