James graduated from LAS with an undergraduate degree in microbiology, and subsequently earned a PhD in microbiology at Northwestern University Medical School. Today, James is a vice president in the Life Sciences Practice of EY-Parthenon, where he specializes in corporate strategy, working with life sciences companies. As an undergraduate, James was a founding member and president of the LAS Leaders, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences' student advancement group. During his time at Illinois as an undergraduate, James took advantage of the broad range of coursework and opportunities as he earned a liberal arts education, which ultimately shaped what he does today, which is working on the business side of science. Prior to joining the board, he mentored undergraduate and graduate students exploring science careers and identifying options. He's looking forward to expanding his efforts to give back to the Illinois community through board membership and delivering on the mission for the organization.
