Lily Huang

Lily Huang (BA,'09, East Asian languages and cultures) was honored to come back to the Urbana-Champaign campus in 2014 as a student services professional, serving a new generation of Illini as they write their own Illinois success stories. Today, Lily is assistant director of Business Career Services at the Gies College of Business. She provides advising for Business Graduate Programs students on their career development and job search strategies both domestically and internationally. Previously, she served as assistant director of International Student and Scholar Service, where she advised international students on maintaining their legal status in the U.S. She earned her bachelor of arts in East Asian studies from the University of Illinois and her master of education in International Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago. Outside of her day job, Lily spends a great deal of time volunteering and giving back to various communities. She is currently the chair of the International Educators of Illinois, state-level organization that promotes and supports the professional development of individuals in the field of international education through collaboration, workshops, conferences, and leadership opportunities within the state of Illinois. She is also a national board executive for the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, a civil rights organization that works to empower Chinese and Asian-Americans. In addition to the LAS Alumni Board, Lily continues to serve her alma mater through another alumni organization, the University of Illinois Asian and Asian American Alumni Network. Lily is also on the board of directors for the local YWCA of the University of Illinois, working to empower women and girls of color.
