Lynn M. Martin Award for Distinguished Women Teachers

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, in fulfillment of its mission, is devoted to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Named for the founder, the Lynn M. Martin Award for Distinguished Women Teachers is designated to promote exceptional achievement in undergraduate teaching by women. The LAS Awards Committee will review and rank the applications received. Two awards (one for Teaching Assistants and one for Faculty members) may be made annually.

Award

For Faculty. An award of $1000 is placed in a discretionary account to support the recipient's teaching and research. In addition, an increment of $3500 will be added to the annual salary base of each recipient.

For Teaching Assistants. An award of $2000.

All recipients receive a commemorative plaque which is presented at the LAS Recognition of Teaching Excellence.

The following general guidelines will apply:

1. All nominations of female faculty members and teaching assistants for college or campus awards (e.g. Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, Dean's Award, and Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching by Graduate Teaching Assistants) will automatically be considered for the Lynn M. Martin award.
2. The established submission procedures and criteria for the above award nominations should be observed.
3. The LAS Awards Committee will serve as the selection committee for the Lynn M. Martin awards.
4. Recipients of this award will be ineligible for subsequent college awards for ten years following their selection.
