Professors in LAS conduct research in more the 70 countries, and they collaborate with researchers and specialists in almost 60 countries. More than half of all professors in the college conduct research on international issues.

Lemann Institute of Brazilian Studies
The new institute is building upon U of I's historic strength in Latin American studies to create a premier institute dedicated to understanding Brazil—one of the world's largest, most vibrant economies.
Dark Energy Survey
Astronomers at U of Iare leading a team of researchers who are creating a system to process, calibrate, and archive massive amounts of data being generated in the hunt for mysterious dark energy and galaxy clusters. The Dark Energy Survey is part of an effort to track the expansion of the universe by looking at galaxy clusters deep in space.
U of I Singapore Collaboration
The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering has teamed with the National University of Singapore to offer a multi-institutional Ph.D program. The program aims to produce prospective employees with a global outlook and to create cooperative research opportunities between faculty in Illinois and Singapore.
INSPIRE: Illinois-Sweden Program for Educational and Research Exchange
This partnership will provide Illinois researchers and students with a new access point to the Arctic Circle, making for chilly but beneficial study-abroad and research possibilities.
