Petitions for Re-entry

The following students are required to apply for re-entry to LAS:

  • LAS students who voluntarily "stopped out" for more than two calendar years and have not exceeded the maximum terms of enrollment eligibility. LAS limits the numbers of semesters students may be enrolled for the purpose of completing their degrees.
  • LAS students placed on a "must petition" status due to late semester withdrawal, expiration of Expected Graduation Date (EGD), or other special circumstances. Re-entry is not guaranteed.
  • Any U of I student required to spend time away from campus due to inadequate academic progress ("drop" status) who now wants to apply for re-instatement or admission to LAS as a declared major. Re-entry is not guaranteed.

Students on academic drop status are not eligible for re-entry until one calendar year after their drop. Re-entry is not guaranteed and will depend upon a careful review of the re-entry application and pattern of performance, and on University facilities available when the student applies.

Seniors who have failed to make satisfactory progress in completing graduation course requirements or the GPA (2.00) requirement generally are approved for re-entry only during the summer term in order to satisfy graduation requirements, including minimum GPA requirements.
