Join fellow LAS juniors and seniors at the LAS Career Seminar Series and prepare for life after graduation. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers a three-part series that is packed with practical advice and tips for success. Register for one or all three seminars and gain valuable career-building skills.

Spring 2012 Seminars
Business Dining Etiquette
Thursday, February 23

Colonial Room, Illini Union
Cost: $12
Feel self-assured during that all-important business luncheon by attending this etiquette primer. Ruth Hayden, from Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, will teach the basics of dining etiquette—which silverware to use, when to begin eating, and how to eat those “difficult” foods. In addition, you will learn how to make proper introductions. Registration fee includes the workshop and a four-course meal.

Interview Dos and Don’ts

Learn how to prepare for an interview from the people who do the hiring. LAS alumna Heather Horn, associate director of employee relations for the Division of Campus Recreation, will share best practices and tips on successful interviewing. Find out how to communicate your skills, anticipate tough questions, and convey a professionalism that will help you take that first step on the career ladder.

The Art of Networking

Enter the job market armed with networking skills that will give you forward-thinking perspectives and confidence. LAS alum Ben Brownback, co-owner and CEO of DAV Productions, will share his networking successes and job searching techniques. You will learn how to creatively approach building job opportunities through networking and social media.
