The world is a big, beautiful, diverse place, and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences wants to help you explore it.

LAS at Illinois encourages the development of global learning and competencies and LAS International Programs aims to provide learning opportunities and support and guidance for domestic and international students. We also support faculty and staff as we work to understand and respond to those around us, from our campus to the entire world.

We work to help LAS units in their efforts to create meaningful and academically rigorous short-term and semester-length programs abroad, while also developing courses and programs to help incoming international students get comfortable on campus. We're working together to make sure that we all benefit from our diverse, broad college.

Study abroad

We have both short-term faculty-led programs and those that last full semesters and academic years. If you can't decide, read our five steps for planning your study abroad experience.

Study abroad can be as affordable as or more affordable than studying on campus. Many scholarships are available for Illinois undergraduates who plan to study abroad on an approved program. Financial aid applies to most study abroad programs. Learn more about scholarships and financial aid for study abroad.
